Today is 2025.7.16, with the outdoor temperature reaching 37°C, we continued our long-term rooftop durability test for Gelay fabrics. This test has been running for two years, simulating extreme outdoor exposure including sun, wind, and rain to evaluate fabric performance over time.
In this latest phase, we have added two new fabric samples to the test:
1、Gelay Solution-Dyed Yarn-Dyed Polyester Fabric
Composition: 100% polyester
Weight: 320g/m²
Color: Blue-violet
Special Feature: Enhanced with UV-resistant formulation
This newly developed Gelay fabric is engineered for improved colorfastness and UV protection, making it an ideal candidate for extended outdoor use. It is now officially included in our rooftop test for performance monitoring.
2、Transparent PVC Waterproof Film
Thickness: 0.85mm
Weight: Approx. 480g/m²
This innovative material is provided by one of our partner factories. It is a new type of waterproof film . We look forward to observing its performance under real-world conditions.
Next, we present actual photos of Gelay fabric samples that have been undergoing rooftop durability testing for an extended period. As shown in the images, although these fabrics have been exposed to prolonged sunlight, wind, and rain, they exhibit only some natural surface dust and stains. Impressively, they still maintain excellent colorfastness and structural integrity, demonstrating strong outdoor performance.
One detail worth mentioning: we had originally marked the test start date “2023-07-01” on a piece of grey fabric. However, that marking has now faded completely. Upon review, we realized this was due to using a standard marker pen, which could not withstand the intense outdoor conditions. Over nearly two years of sun and weather exposure, the ink gradually faded and has now disappeared—an unfortunate but valuable lesson.
Moving forward, we will improve our documentation and labeling methods to ensure key test data remains visible and intact throughout the testing period. We welcome more professionals and partners interested in Gelay fabrics to follow our ongoing durability tests and product developments.
We will continue to monitor and document the condition and performance of all fabrics throughout this ongoing test. Stay tuned as we share more updates and insights from the field.
